I love Anne Rice, and she and I have a lot in common. The following quote on the death of her mother sums up everything I feel about losing mine, enough said: ''It's difficult for me to discuss it,'' she said. ''I'm not really ready yet. When I lost my mother I lost the one person in the world who was really interested in me, interested in me in a selfless way. I took it all for granted.'' I thought my Mom was immortal; she wasn't.
