We salute the memory of Patricia Routledge, immortalized as Hyacinth Bucket, pronounced Bouquet, and Hetty Wainthrop, PI.
She also played Barbara Pym in Miss Pym's Day Out. I wrote about her as the embodiment of Pym's Excellent Woman in my dissertation, and later in The Subversion of Romance in the Novels of Barbara Pym.
She died in her late nineties, and was active till the end. There aren't many actresses or comediennes like her, but she will not be forgotten.
